The Scene Magazine Interviews: Kaze Productions

Recently he has collaborated with with DJ Crossova and Swarve The Wizard (No Gimmickz) and many other artists in the production of Grime and Hip Hop. After getting in contact with SFR Entertainment he has mainly concentrated with Richie Rich the producer to get his own style of music out there. At the moment he is in collaborations with Marcie Phonix, Hypa Fenn, Desperado and few more!. Kaze productions is about to break and show the grime scene what he's all about.

RepDaScene UK caught up with Kaze to see how things are progressing.

1. Whats happening Kaze, What have you been up to recently?

Whats up, Recently I've been taking a short break from producing to get most of my material vocalled. I've got so many tunes and so little talent on there. Soon a tune with Zero and Ghetto is coming. Also a tune with L.man and SFR.

2. How did you get into producing?

I think I was in college and realized that I liked fruity loops. Since then I've been using it and trying to learn the ways it works. After that I hooked up with DJ Crossova from NOG and Anti Social, and pretty much through that link I developed my sound and all my friends and emcees I have supporting me.

3. What do you think of the UK Grime scene right now?

I think the UK grime scene is an area with huge potential. I believe that with the correct edge and the right tunes it can be recognized worldwide. Obviously it isn't an over night thing but sooner or later someones going to have to take notice of us.

4. How would you describe your producing style?

I have a very strong style. Its basically classical music mixed with grime. I have fast catchy melody's and a good ear for a good tune. I like to keep things simple and effective. I've had to learn that over complicating a song isn't the way to go. Its literally simple but you have to implement your sound into it. If you don't have an edge in your sound people wont really take notice of you.

5. What have been your influences into making your sound?

My influences are what I have learnt since the age of 6 to now (20). Ive been in orchestras, samba bands, rock bands, jazz bands, Latin bands and percussion bands. It all started with the violin, then I started playing the drums and have always been playing guitar. Guitar is my most fluent instrument and I can pretty much play any style on it. So with all this experience and knowledge its made me the producer I am today.

6. Any Grime artists and producers you rate at the moment?

I rate every single artist out there that is doing their thing. But to mention names I rate Blackjack N.A.S.T.Y, JME, Lowdeep, SFR Ent, Vigar, Diddy, L.man, Zero, Quest and Desperado. I have loads more, but to mention names they are the ones I like the most.

7. Which artist or producer would you like to work with?

I would like to work with everyone and anyone, but I would especially like to work with Shystie, because I think she is a very talented Emcee. I started listening to grime through her. I would like to work with everyone I can really, as long as they appeal to me as something different. Making something new and fresh is real.

8. What new material or projects can we expect to hear from you in the near future?

Im starting a Live band with Quest from Anti Social which will be an interesting experience because everyone there will be a grime producer. We can all play instruments so it will either be BIG or a flop.

10. So, what are your next moves in the music scene?

Next moves are what they always are, make tunes and hope for the best. Effort and discipline are important. If you take people seriously, they will take you seriously.

11. Anyone you’d like to big up?

Richie Rich, DJ Crossova, DJ Tiny Rascal, Vigar, SHADY and ESSAM Diddy, L.man, Zero, Ghetto, RepDaScene UK, Urban Kaoz, k7, Cyko, marcie and hypa, wizz, LSB, Tubz, DJ Havoc, Desperado, Times, Blackjack, Danielle Senior, Blemish Blackstorm, Maxmillion, Jigz, Anti Social, Restless, Snakeyman and if i forgot you... you too.
