The Scene Magazine Interviews: TrayC

A singer/songwriter from Bristol. Tray C is currently working on her solo project with Savage Entertainment and The Wolverins. Allowing her to experiment with different styles and genres of music. Right now Trayc wants to continue networking. You can currently hear some of her tracks on Colourful FM and see her performing across London.

RDS borrowed some of TrayC's time to see what was happening and to see how things are going with her and the rest of the crew!


1. How Long Have You Been Singing For?

I’ve been singing from a young age, I first performed as a soloist at 6 years old at Malcolm X Centre Bristol. It was a talent contest where the winner would go on to perform at St Pauls’ Carnival. After submitting my demo I won my place to perform and won my first prize for singing and came 8th out of 15. I then went on to perform at many different events and occassions for example, summer fayres and community centres. I Toured America with Bristols Schools' Chamber Choir visiting states such as, Boston and performed at the United Nations Building, New York in 2003 I’ve also performed at many well known venues such as The Carling Academy (Bristol), BBC Music Live, Royal Albert Hall (London), The Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), The Royal Festival Hall (London) to name a few.

2. What Are We Going To Expect From Your Solo Album?

Be expected to hear a bit of all my Influences I love listening to many kinds of music and artists like Minnie Riperton, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Gregory Issacc and Kelis. Be expected to hear really nice vocals quality songwriting and some of the UK’s best producers. It’s in working progress so if anyone is interested in working with me leave me a message on my space!

3. How Did You Get Into Music?

I’ve been surrounded by music at home. From my gran singing at church, to tuning into pirate radio stations to listen to my brother djing. My dad was in a Band and my Mum was very involved in the arts in the community. MTV and playing Top of The Pop’s with my sister had a big part in me being drawn to music

4. Whats Society Of The Flame All About?

I work with The Society. The society is about making good music to a high standard. They’re trying to keep the flame of art form burning, instead of using a set format. They work with a variety of artists be sure to hear lot’s about them over the next few months. Check them on http://www.myspace.com/societyoftheflames

5. If you could duet with any other artist, who would it be?

I would love to do a slow jam with Donnel Jones after the Where I wanna be album he’s probally one of my favourite Male Songwriters.

6. What Do You Think Of The Urban Music Scene?

The Scene is growing there’s a lot of people doing there thing putting there own teams together. It’s all looking good!!! There’s a lot of talent about.

7. Who do you rate most in the Urban music scene at the moment?

8. What are we gonna be seeing from you in the future?

I’m working on my Album so you should be hearing me on radio and seeing me performing at Showcases across London
